To paraphrase from Rainer Schulte (UTD literary professor), In order for
someone to get even close to the truth of a novel; one would have to read
the book ten times or more.
Todd's work is about abstracting text into an object/image. Je start s with
text because words have always mystified him. He reads some words
backwards and drops prefixes and suffixes to words when he is reading, plus
he may read a few letters backwards. So, in order for him to read anything, he
must approach a text by use of repetition. After he reads a text a few times,
the meaning changes from the first reading because he is able to clear up
the visual impairments through the act of repetition. The same thing happens
with his work. When he starts out with a text, those words have a current
meaning, but after the processes of repetition, the text becomes an
object/image with a new and truer meaning.

GARY PERRONE
Gary Perrone has been battling HIV for the last twenty years. He believes that
creating/painting helps him in his fight against the life threatening disease.
Perrone wrote “Art can be therapeutic, but I prefer to think of it as a
metaphysical journey I take each time I pick up a pencil, brush or chisel.”
Perrone manipulates the medium in order to capture the light, color and
rhythms that compose mindscapes. Mindscapes are the concentration of all
his thoughts, words, moods, emotions and memories to create expressive
figures. He strives to capture the sensation of being vast as well as
infinitesimally small.
